WMU | Rio is where the heart is

Rio is always my favorite stop on the tour. The city has a unique energy; it’s one of the few places where I’ve genuinely started to feel anchored when I’m on the road. Even though it isn't my birthplace, the music here feels close to home, it lives in the air and it always hits me in a way that sparks inspiration.

The crowd's energy is unmatched. They don't just sing along, they chant the lyrics with such a fierce commitment that the entire venue vibrates. These are the moments that make up for the cost of everything else: the endless logistics, the distance, and the imbalance of life on the road. This is what confirms I’m on the right track.

Getting to Rio also means that Big Bang is right around the corner, and that little break is absolutely necessary. It's the chance to head home, sleep in my own bed, spend quality time with my kids, and reconnect with people I haven't seen in a while. And obviously the best part: getting proper drunk on caipirinhas without having to worry about the hangover impacting the next day's show.

In a job built on moving, this is the one place where the ground feels steady.
