—1309. Madrid: a new chapter
"So Madrid, huh?" His dad chuckled. Pride in his eyes — he knew his dad couldn't have been prouder of him after his time with his college ball days. He had finally signed into the big leagues.
"Madrid." He knew it was close to wherever his mother had flown to, but he also had family in other parts — not technically family, but … people that had become his family and friends like Max's grandfather. And he'd already offered him season tickets along with his uncle Ryan. "I'm fucking happy, Dad. After the whole shit in Chicago and with the team." He spoke about the Chicago Devils during his college days before falling into other endeavors, and now he was back with his mind on one singular goal. To win, to be the best teammate he could be, and to one day soon - put a trophy on his mantle just as his father had on their mantle at their Toronto home.
His father smiled into the camera, a broad smile on his lips. "It is far, but I know you'll do well. I'm proud of you, so keep your head straight and don't let anything distract you. I'll pop over for some home games when the season ends, but you know, with me being head coach. I don't have time to ... travel outside of the required travel. Love you, son." He told him.
"I understand. And I love you too, Dad. Kiss Katana for me."
"I'm not kissing a slobbering dog. I'm kidding; I'll give her a big kiss." Sawyer chuckled before he hung up the phone.
