Fractured Bonds
Crissy sat alone, her hands trembling slightly as she stared at the empty cup in front of her. The weight of what had happened to her son gnawed at her soul, an ache that wouldn’t subside. She couldn't stop thinking about how everything spiraled out of control, how this girl involvement had ultimately led to her son’s downfall.
The memories replayed in her mind like a haunting film. She had always been protective of her son, making sure he was safe, even when he were tangled in a dangerous world. But the girl, with her secrets, her recklessness—it had opened a door that should have stayed closed.
She felt an overwhelming sense of guilt, even though she wasn’t the one who had caused his suffering. "I should’ve seen this coming," she thought, her chest tightening. She had tried to warn him about getting too involved, but he wouldn’t listen. Now, all she could do was watch him slowly recover, physically at least.
But emotionally? That was a whole other battle. He wasn’t the same after everything he had been through. He rarely smiled anymore, and when he did, it didn’t reach his eyes. It broke her heart to see him like this.
She couldn't help but blame the girl. "If it wasn't for her..." The thought circled in her mind like a storm. She understood the connection they had, but it didn’t change the fact that she had led him into a world of danger. Crissy wasn’t sure if she could ever forgive her.
"I just want my son back," she whispered, her voice cracking under the weight of her emotions.
