Chapter 1: IV

Freddie was in a slump. This move to London hadn't turned out at all like he thought it would. He realised now how naive he had been, thinking he would just turn up to London and immediately everything would click into place.

But the reality was his music kind of sucked. He really wasn't very good. It was the first time something hadn't come naturally to him. At first the challenge had sparked something in him. But now all he felt was frustration.

Worse than that though he was lonely. He had gone from being the king of his small town to an absolute nobody in London and he was struggling to accept it. Back home everyone wanted to be his friend, he could have dated almost anyone he wanted. Now he felt like the unpopular kid trying to get invited to the cool kids party, and when he did meet someone interesting he found himself invariably getting ghosted.

He was forced to consider for the first time questions he previously never would have contemplated. Was he boring? Was he damaged goods? Had he made a mistake coming here? The dream of London he had sold himself was fast becoming a bad investment. This heaven gave him migraine.
