Echoes of Mizuki #14 - Soundtrack of my week #wmu
This week, my heart traveled back in time.
Back to when I was just a little girl with big dreams and messy headphones, living in a world where Asian and Korean music were not everywhere yet. Everything felt so far away, so unreachable. I remember watching music videos on a tiny screen, pretending I was on those stages, dancing in my room with shaky confidence and glowing eyes.
That was when I discovered Jamie Woo.
I still remember how his music made my chest feel warm and heavy at the same time. It was the first time I truly thought, “I want to do this too. I want to exist inside music.” He did not know me, of course. But he unknowingly gave a small girl the courage to keep dreaming when dreaming felt a little silly.
Today, my soundtrack is Psycho, the last single he released. Every note still carries that same electricity I felt back then. It is strange and beautiful how a song can bridge so many years in just a few minutes.
I listened to it curled up in bed, hugging my pillow, lights off, just me and the memories. And I smiled thinking about how that little girl would probably cry if she saw where I am now. Still scared sometimes. Still soft. Still dreaming. But walking.
Thank you, Jamie. For being a quiet star in my sky when I needed one.
