A little runaway from the routine, I planned a mini date on the shore. I took my favourite game with us. Whoever invented the game must have consulted me because no matter how hard hubby tried, he could never quite catch my score. As my first word found its' way onto the board, Corey mumbled, “You know, one day I’m going to beat you.”
“Sure, love. But that day is not today..” I replied.
As the game progressed, so did our random conversations as if we did not speak for days(which is an irony). His teasings and hilarious made-up song lyrics, my witty comebacks and edits danced in laughter across the shore.
Predictably, I had the victory. Placing my final tile, I looked at Corey, who gave me his trademark “not again” look.
“Maybe next time.” I said, tried so hard not to laugh out loud.
Corey repeated my words with exaggeration and sarcasm but he punished me with a strong bear hug. (Sorry babe!)
