it's hot, oh, god

i grew up shaped by women who wrote like they were bleeding. songwriters who weren't afraid to expose their insides, to give a name to female rage, and to the conflicting emotions we don't always feel proud of having. feelings that are ugly, uncomfortable, sometimes sharp enough to sound like an insult, but still real, still honest. they don't become any less genuine just because they're difficult to admit out loud.

'so hot you're going through hell' was born from that exact place: the ironic, almost empowering satisfaction of watching someone who hurt you fall apart. it's about turning revenge and pain into something perversely fun. the song is intentionally unhinged, exaggerated, and toxic, comparing witnessing someone else's misfortune to a pleasure so intense it borders on the physical.

when i decided this would be my next single, i was scared of how people would react. because it isn't a good thought. it isn't kind or polished. but it's also something i've never heard anyone sing about openly, even though i'm sure everyone has felt it at least once.

with influences from synth pop, indie pop, and city pop, this track is a dedication to anyone who's ever messed with you: your childhood bullies, your abusive partner, your weird neighbor, your fake, backstabbing friend, that bitter person who makes you understand exactly why they have no friends. or that girl, this pussycat who somehow maintained a one-sided adversarial relationship with you until she took it too far like a fucking lunatic. the list never ends.

karma is patient, relentless, inescapable. it always finds its way back. and if you're lucky, you'll realize that witnessing it can feel sweet like honey — hot, intoxicating, and almost uncomfortably pleasurable if you really stop to think about it. ❤️‍🔥
