loneliness of chaos
Everything was wrong. Everything was out of place. Anywhere the gaze fell was another thing needing fixed. Familiar piles of books had been sorted through and moved. Cyrus would reach blindly for one tool only to grab another while working and just this morning he’d tripped over a pair of trainers many sizes too small.
Chaos, Hazel was pure, silent chaos.
The silence she acquired from him, another creature able to go days without uttering a word, but the chaos was all her mother. Everything the young woman touched was left just slightly changed, especially the man who followed after trying to fix it all.
He was patient, he’d remain patient, but he knew she needed to eventually talk about what had happened, about what was currently happening. Cyrus had tried to make an appointment with the therapist recommended but so far there hadn’t been an opening. She’d stubbornly refused to speak to any of the others he’d taken her to thus far and he feared this silence would take her down the same he’d traveled all his life.
“I am here.”
Three simple words were what he repeated every moment she looked so helplessly lost and though she didn’t reply he hoped it helped.
