White lace dress

Lynn, an introverted girl, had finally returned home to London after weeks of ignoring her mother’s calls. The weight of it all settled on her as she slipped into her best white dress, a symbol of celebration, of family, of a wedding she was supposed to feel a part of.

But instead of laughing and chatting with the guests, she found refuge in the quietest corner of the place, a book open on her lap. It wasn’t as if she was reading it. Her eyes traced the words, but her mind was elsewhere, tangled in thoughts she couldn’t quite explain. A sigh escaped her lips, heavy with an unease she didn’t fully understand.

The melody of a wedding band filled the air, soft and melancholy, mirroring the restlessness that was writhing inside her. She glanced at the small creature resting nearby, her little lizard .

In a soft voice, barely above a whisper, she asked,
“Hey, Faith… do you miss….?”

She stopped, didn’t continue her words, uncertain of her feelings, was it temporary or forever
