We met just before school started when we were 13. He’d signed up for football and I recruited him for some practice matches. He was fun and kept me company while I waited for my waterpolo matches. (He later said he only played football to get close to me. 🥰) That year between football and waterpolo I don’t think we spent more than a couple days away from the stadium. And in 20 years I don’t think we spent even that much time apart.

Dorian, you were my first. First kiss, first love, first…well, everything. You were my best friend and the best dad I could have asked for for all of our kids, even adopting my cousin and helping to raise him as our own. We will all miss you terribly and be forever grateful to have had you in our lives.

Rest well, my love. Thank you for pretending to like football all those years ago and thank you for being ours. 😭
