The smooth execution of the first stage of a coordinated effort made the men responsible for the savage act breathe a sigh of relief. It had been years in the making, biding their time like spiders building a web, slowly connecting and manipulating everything until the web was complete and ready to ensnare their prey. Each may have had different reasons for doing what they were doing but all were united in their mutual goal of destroying Melvin Stjärnblom and everything his 'Soininen' family stood for. Melvin the tyrant and his relations had been bullying the world for far too long; it was high time for a change in power. And it would be achieved through violence and anarchy, beginning with perfectly executed and exploited attacks against the one weakness the Stjärnblom-Soininen men each felt a responsibility to protect; their family.

When the culprits of later destruction learned that Stjärnblom's own brother would be in Oxford with his youngest child and girlfriend, pregnant of all things, the choice of when and where they would first strike had been easy. It was made easier by the fact that a price had been put on the girlfriend's pretty little head by someone who wanted Soininen to suffer for past events in Rio de Janeiro. And so a device had been planted in the basement of the theatre used for the graduating ceremony, a neat diversion that might hurt or kill the elder Soininen while distracting him enough that they could grab the wanted woman. Dead or alive she would be placed on the doorstep of the man who wanted to avenge his father.

On a lonely backroad that led to Portishead and the waiting ship, hired mercenaries sped for the coast with Soininen's whore secured in the back of the van, knowing there wasn't much time. If Soininen wasn't dead, they soon would be -- if they didn't make it to the Bristol Channel and out to sea. They could only hope that the rest of the attacks that day were executed flawlessly...
