As much as Evie loved being the center of attention on her own birthday, her true favorite day didn't come until a few days later in the year. His birthday.

She wasn't alone in that thought, however. It seemed to be a sentiment shared by her entire family. From her mother, to her younger siblings, to her "aunt" Kath. Even Evie's daughter had spent the day talking her ear off about when she would be able to see her grandfather to give him his present. A most appropriate response, considering he was actually her father.

But all the interest made it even more difficult than normal to get some alone time. Luckily, she knew just how to get his attention. And how to make him the center of hers.
