She’s not dead.
What in the fuck? He wished he hadn’t snuck out to the jeweler's and was in the comfort of his mother’s home in New York without making a scene — he smiled at the man helping him. “I just have to take this. I’ll be right back — keep all the pieces I was looking at.” He told him before he stepped out into the busy streets of New York. They were there in New York to officially introduce Savannah and Onyx to his mom and to announce that he and Savannah were boyfriend and girlfriend. Thinking those words out loud, especially how far they’d come, felt surreal.
“Who is not dead? I’m not following.” Elliott said into the phone.
“Popping the question, eh?” Cye chuckled. “Never thought I’d see the day.”
“Never thought I’d hear the day that you let a stranger waltz into your house — is she pretty?” Elliott smirked, slipping one of his hands into his pockets as he walked down the street. Silence. Then Cye explained why he had called.
He stopped in the middle of the street. People bumped into him, pushing him about as he stared at a sign. “… he’s not been returning my calls. I’ve called him twenty times. I’m going to need you to start the fuck over.” He said after a long silence. “Now.”
And he did — wholly shocked that his closet cousin had been suffering, and he didn’t know. But then again, he had suffered in private in Bali. And plenty of other times. “We need to get to …”
“I know.” Two simple words, but they felt eons apart.
