Matchmaker

Riv sighed as she leaned back in her chair. She wasn't even sure if this was the route she really wanted to go down. She supposed that she had always assumed that her and Art would tie the knot in the end. Yet, his passing two years prior had put an end to that dream. She still mourned him but she wanted her forever.

When her and Art had gone long distance she assumed that she would eventually move back to New York or he to London. It was never meant to be the end. Now, she lived in London with her technical nephew, although he felt more like a cousin. Hell even she and Eli had grown apart while she grew closer to Shay. He was still her best friend of course, but with her and Shay working together it was inevitable.

Now, the only piece missing was marriage. She was ready to settle down and get married. She wasn't sold on having children right this moment but one didn't need children to get married. They just needed to be ready. So, she had called her local matchmaker and took the plunge. It was interesting to know the type of man she was going to be paired with, of course but more importantly, she felt closer to her mom this way.

She wasn't sure why, it wasn't like her mother had been orthodox but keeping on traditions seemed important. Hanukkah had been rougher than usual in her opinion this past year. Everyone was an adult now and there were no new children to enjoy the festivities. It felt like the family had stagnated in it's growth, including new partners. Or maybe she had simply noticed her mothers absence more now that she was older.
