he should have gone to do that job he was required to do. if he had gone to do it in the first place, Lucas would still be here. he'd be safe under the watchful eye of his bodyguard and his father. if Hoshi ever forgave Yvan, it would be a freezing cold day in hell. he had no doubt about that. if Lucas was killed, Yvan would never be able to forgive himself.

Yvan had always promised that he would keep Lucas safe whenever they hung out. out of the two of them, it was Yvan who knew the most about ending lives. even though he was used for his skill as a marksman, he knew many different methods of how to take a life. Lucas should have been safe with him. Yvan was incredibly protective even if he wasn't loud about his protectiveness.

that protectiveness was what kept him firmly planted in London instead of on a plane to take care of business. his business was here. he couldn't work with his uncle, that was for sure, and his father would be disapproving of anything he tried to do. he was the one who made this mess and he needed to fix it.

what made things worse was the time it was taking for any answers to come. though he obviously would never be invited into the conversation about what Hoshi and Kieran and some of their men were doing, he still did his best to try and figure out what was going on. there would be threats.

if he knew anything about the way business worked, they were probably asking for millions of dollars for Hoshi to get his son back. he couldn't see Hoshi refusing that, though. he just couldn't. why would he refuse when Yvan knew that their family had almost endless amounts of money.

if they didn't pay the ransom immediately... Yvan didn't know what he would do. thinking about it made him curl his fingers into fists. it pissed him off that he was helpless, useless, pitiful.

one thing he knew for sure: if he had his way, he would be on a path of revenge. he wouldn't hold back.
