𝙿𝚕𝚊𝚢 𝚏𝚒𝚛𝚜𝚝, 𝚍𝚎𝚌𝚒𝚍𝚎 𝚕𝚊𝚝𝚎𝚛

Darius was figuring things out. Or at least, that’s what he told himself.

The past few weeks had cracked something open - nothing dramatic, just enough to make everything feel a little louder, a little more alive. It started small. He picked up a tennis racket one afternoon and didn't hate how it felt. Something about the rhythm, the repetition, the sound of the ball slicing through the air. It stuck with him. Then came the running, the late-night basketball games, the quiet burn in his muscles that reminded him he had a body meant for movement. For more. It wasn’t about becoming an athlete. Not yet. But it was about seeing if he could.

And somewhere in the middle of all that, other things started happening. Girls started looking at him differently. Not that he wasn’t used to attention - Darius had always known how to hold a room - but this was different. More eyes. More messages. More of that low-key buzz that came from knowing you’re being watched, wanted, chosen. They weren’t just flirting. Some were testing him. Some were waiting for him to pick. But he wasn’t in a picking mood.

He liked where he was - in between things. No label, no decision, no need to explain what came next. For once, he didn’t feel the pressure to figure it all out. He wasn’t building a plan, he was just watching the pieces fall into place, one unpredictable day at a time. The sports, the girls, the energy building quietly under his skin, it was all part of something. A new rhythm. A different version of himself that he hadn’t met yet, but was starting to get glimpses of.

Truth be told, he didn’t want to lock anything down. Not the sport. Not the girl. Not even the version of himself he was becoming. Right now, it felt better to stay curious. To let things unfold. To walk that thin line between potential and chaos, where anything could happen.
