The timing was less than ideal, but when was it ever right?
Olivia had repeated that to herself more times than she could count. They could pretend all they wanted, but the truth was undeniable - they were bringing a child into the world when they could hardly guarantee the safety of their little family.
And yet, despite everything, she wound’t have chosen differently.
Maybe that made her a bad mother. Maybe choosing to have Alex’s child when their world was so uncertain, so dangerous, so fragile, already determined what kind of parent she would be. Those thoughts kept her awake at night. Other times, they turned into nightmares because she finally had something worth fighting for - not a selfish motive, but something that was bigger than Olivia.

She didn’t care about the government. Or the mafia. What mattered was the little family that they were trying to build for themselves. That was everything, and then some.
Her body had begun to change, swelling with the proof of their child. No longer was it just an invisible threat, an idea, tying them together. It was something tangible now, something real. A life, the one they made. Even if the barrier of her skin separated their hands from the child within, they could feel it now. Steady kicks, another proof.
It was terrifying; the uncertainty of their safety and the responsibility of raising a child weighed heavily but it was also what pushed her forward.
Through it all, one thing was certain - she couldn’t picture a future where Alex wasn’t with them.
