"I'm fixing bikes from the 80s with tools that cost like they're from 2080. The math just doesn't work."
The grind of the angle cutter had been Jason's soundtrack for the past eight hours. He wiped a smear of black grease from his forehead but only managed to spread it further. The weight of the shop, his father's legacy, felt heavier than any engine block he had lifted that day. He was tired, and the looming debt for the new diagnostic tools was a sharp pressure behind his eyes.

He finally wrestled the last panel back onto the stubborn vintage Norton. The job was done, but the tension in his shoulders remained. Jason sighed, a long, weary release of breath. The debt, the expectation, the ghost of his father's trust..
the day was over, but the stress had nowhere to go.
He peeled off his heavy work shirt, the rough cotton sticking to his sweaty back. He stepped out the rear door into the cool evening. Hanging from a rafter was his worn punching bag.
He didn't waste a second. Jason drove his first punch into the leather. Bam! The sound was dull and absolute. He hit it again and again, a quick flurry of jabs and crosses, each blow a directed attack against the day's frustration. He continued until his knuckles burned and his lungs screamed. For a few raw, exhausting minutes, Jason wasn't a mechanic burdened by his past; he was just a lonewolf fighting his way toward tomorrow.
