Two Years, One Little Heart, A Whole World
My little Alec turned two yesterday.
I still can’t decide what feels more unreal — that he learned to walk backstage between concerts, or that I blinked and suddenly he’s this tiny person with opinions, jokes, and a smile that knocks the world off its axis.
He has grown while flying from city to city, sleeping through soundchecks, dancing to rehearsals, clapping at crowds he thinks are cheering for him — and honestly, maybe they are.
He doesn’t know it yet, but he’s lived a little piece of the world before he even learned to say all its colors.
Time feels different when you’re on tour.
Days melt into airports, nights into stages, and somehow memories get made in the in-betweens — the quiet car rides, the hotel mornings, the tiny fingers holding mine while the whole world rushes around us.
And now… he’s waiting for someone.
His baby sister.
He taps on my belly sometimes as if knocking on a door, like “hey, hurry up, we’re already living life out here.”
Watching him grow while waiting for her — it’s the softest kind of magic.
Two years.
A whole world.
And somehow, this is just the beginning.
